- The maximum amount of widow’s pension payment cannot exceed PLN 5,600 gross.
- ZUS has already received over 832 thousand applications for widows’ pension.
- The first benefits will be paid from 1 July 2025.
As we wrote in the CIS, the widow's pension allows you to combine the payment of a survivor's pension after the deceased spouse with your own benefit.
The Ministry of Family reported on Friday that ZUS received over 832 thousand applications. Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk said in March that the vast majority of applications were submitted by women.
I have an important appeal. Dear gentlemen, widowers, you are also entitled to this benefit. Try to get interested, go to ZUS - she said on RMF FM.
Under the widow's pension, you can choose to receive:
- 100 percent of the survivors' pension and 15 percent of one's own benefit;
- 100 percent of own benefit and 15 percent of survivors' pension;
- from 1 January 2027, the second benefit will be paid at 25% ;
The maximum amount of the widow's pension payment cannot exceed three times the minimum pension , which is currently PLN 5,636.73 gross. This amount is valid from March 1, 2025 to December 28, 2026.
If the sum of benefits paid is higher than three times the minimum pension, ZUS will reduce the benefit by the amount exceeded.
An application for a widow’s pension can be submitted:
- electronically via the PUE/eZUS portal,
- in traditional paper form at any ZUS branch,
- documents can also be sent by post.
ZUS emphasizes that in the case of applications submitted from January to the end of July this year, the benefit will be granted from July 1 anyway.
